Glasswerks is proud to have supplied precision-fabricated architectural glass for the Tesla Diner — one of the most anticipated and boldly designed destinations in Los Angeles.
Retro-Futurism, Realized in Glass
Designed by architecture firm Stantec and built by PCL Construction, the Tesla Diner sits on Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood — a 24/7 drive-in diner, supercharging station, and cinematic experience rolled into one iconic structure. Dezeen The silver two-story building takes the shape of a flying saucer, with a space-age design that houses a full restaurant, two large movie screens, and EV charging infrastructure. Wikipedia Elon Musk described the concept simply: “Grease meets The Jetsons with Supercharging.”
Glasswerks fabricated the architectural glass throughout the building, working alongside our longtime glazing partners at Golden State Glazing to bring Stantec’s vision to life with precision and craftsmanship.
Our Scope of Work
Every pane of glass on this project was engineered to perform as boldly as the building looks. Glasswerks supplied the following systems:
Guardrail System (Level 2)
The interior guardrails feature 11/16″ Clear Laminated glass with a Sentry Glas® interlayer — chosen for its superior strength, clarity, and ability to hold together under impact. SentryGlas interlayer provides significantly greater stiffness and tear resistance than standard PVB laminates, making it the trusted choice for structural and safety-critical glazing applications.
Windows
Vision glass throughout the building is 1″ Solarban® 60 Clear Tempered / Clear Tempered — a high-performance insulating unit that delivers excellent solar control and neutral aesthetics, keeping the interior comfortable without compromising the building’s clean, luminous appearance.
Portal Doors
The entry portal doors are glazed with ½” Clear Tempered glass — offering maximum clarity and durability at the building’s primary points of entry.
