Performance Glass, Fabricated to Spec
When a project demands glass that works as hard as it looks, Glasswerks delivers. We specialize in fabricating insulating glass units (IGUs) designed for maximum energy efficiency and long-term performance. Our IGUs consist of two or more lites of glass separated by a spacer system that seals a layer of argon gas or dehydrated air between the panes — significantly enhancing insulative properties and reducing energy costs without compromising aesthetics. In combination with our laminated, GlassFX, silkscreen, spandrel, and bent-glass offerings, our IGUs integrate seamlessly into virtually any project scope.
Glasswerks’ Standard Aluminum Spacer gives specifiers and glaziers the flexibility to match performance requirements and budget for any project scope.
Standard Aluminum IGUs
- Maximum size: 126″ × 236″
- Spacer type: Aluminum with desiccant
- Gas fill options: Argon or dehydrated air
- Available in dual- and triple-pane configurations
- Produced in accordance with ASTM E2190 standards
The G3® Warm Edge Spacer is a proven, high-performance spacer solution trusted across a wide range of commercial and specialty applications. An extruded thermoset structural silicone foam with integrally incorporated molecular-sieve desiccants, the G3 is engineered to outperform traditional metal spacers in thermal efficiency, durability, and long-term seal integrity.
Unlike conventional aluminum spacers, the G3’s fully non-metallic silicone composition delivers true warm-edge performance with no metal bridging to conduct heat or cold. Its thermoset construction means the spacer is permanently cured into shape — it won’t soften or deform under heat — while retaining flexibility across a wide temperature range to accommodate the natural movement of an IGU through thermal cycling.
- True Warm Edge Performance — No metal components, no thermal bridging
- Improved U-Values — Typical improvement of 0.2 W/m·K vs. aluminum spacers
- Higher Condensation Resistance — Warmer edge temps reduce perimeter condensation and mold risk
- Superior Gas Retention — PIB primary seal and multi-layer vapor barrier maintain a lasting gas-tight seal
- Dual Seal Performance — Acrylic structural adhesive plus perimeter sealant for long-term edge integrity
- Fast Dew-Point Drop — Molecular-sieve desiccant pre-fill absorbs moisture quickly and consistently
- Excellent Environmental Resistance — Resists UV, ozone, oxidation, and color fade
- Enhanced Sound Dampening — Silicone foam outperforms rigid metal spacers acoustically
- Code Compliant — Meets ASTM E2190 and International Green Construction Code standards
- Ideal for High-Performance Applications — Suited for hospitals, medical facilities, and specialty projects
G3® Warm Edge Spacer is available in Black, Grey, and Aluminum Grey.
The G4 TPS Spacer represents the next generation of warm-edge spacer technology. An advanced reactive thermoplastic system with a built-in desiccant, the G4 is engineered to replace traditional spacer, desiccant, and primary seal components in a single, streamlined application — simplifying fabrication without compromising performance.
Unlike conventional aluminum spacers, the G4 chemically bonds to both the glass and silicone secondary seal, forming a permanent molecular connection that resists separation over the life of the unit. Its flexible thermoplastic composition distributes stress evenly across the full width of the spacer — rather than concentrating it at the edges — allowing the unit to expand and contract through thermal cycling while maintaining a continuous gas-tight seal.
Key Advantages
- Unlimited Design Flexibility — Compatible with any IGU size, shape, or weight
- Superior Gas Retention — Continuous airtight seal maintained through all expansion and compression cycles
- Outstanding Thermal Performance — Low thermal conductivity reduces heat loss and lowers long-term energy costs
- Low Moisture Vapor Transmission — Prevents condensation and moisture intrusion for improved comfort and air quality
- Chemical Bonding to Glass and Silicone — Permanent molecular bond enhances durability and structural integrity over the life of the unit
- Exceptional Durability — Flexible and stable under temperature extremes and climatic stress cycling
- Aesthetically Seamless — Metal-free matte black finish blends cleanly with modern frame systems for a refined edge profile
- Advanced Thickness Control — Ensures precise spacer application and consistent IGU performance unit to unit
- Environmentally Responsible — Made from metal-free, organic materials that reduce energy use and environmental impact
G4 TPS Spacer is available in matte black only.
Glasswerks IGUs are engineered to deliver measurable performance advantages over single-pane and standard double-pane alternatives.
Thermal Efficiency
- Sealed argon or dehydrated air cavity significantly reduces conductive and convective heat transfer
- Lower U-values compared to single-pane and standard double-pane glass
- Supports ENERGY STAR® compliance and green building certification requirements
- G4 warm-edge spacer further reduces edge-of-glass heat loss for enhanced overall unit performance
Condensation Resistance
- Integrated desiccants absorb residual cavity moisture, preventing interior condensation
- G4’s low moisture vapor transmission rate provides an additional barrier against moisture intrusion
- Contributes to healthier interior air quality in occupied spaces
Acoustic Performance
- Sealed cavity provides meaningful sound attenuation versus monolithic glass
- Suitable for projects near high-traffic corridors, airports, transit hubs, and urban environments
- Can be enhanced further with laminated interlayers for projects with stringent STC requirements
Code Compliance & Standards
- Produced in accordance with ASTM E2190
- Compliant with Insulating Glass Certification Council (IgCC) standards
